Forks, Washington.
A small town located in the heart of the Olympic Peninsula, cloaked by a constant cover of fog and clouds, and surrounded by trees. For the photographer, tourist, or even local, there is nowhere more green or beautiful on the entire West coast. But it isn't the gorgeous scenery that draws the vampire coven to the tiny town. With almost a year-round cover of clouds, and only rare days of sun, the Cullen family has managed to keep their secret in the midst of the gossip-starved town. Exceptionally beautiful, there are very few who manage to approach them; and even fewer who knowingly walk with them.
The Cullens have returned from their mysterious disappearance, and Bella Swan has once again taken her natural place on the arm of the youngest, Edward Cullen. The Cullens are now her personal bodyguards, of sorts - she is rarely seen without at least one member of the gorgeous family with her. This, of course, only raises more questions about both the Cullen family... and the Swan family. everyone is aware of the comatose like state that Isabella was in after Edward's sudden disappearance, but now, as she's returned to Forks from her own wild disappearance, she seems like she's back to normal. Her life seems back to normal as well, now that Charlie has lifted her strict curfew brought on by a wild excursion to Italy.
A series of murders in Seattle has left the entire town of Forks on edge, but only the Cullens see the real danger. While the humans believe that it is just another sick, twisted human, killing of fellow creatures of his species, the Cullens see the truth. From all appearances, it seems a someone is creating newborns, and letting them free to feed recklessly, which may bring the Volturi to Forks' door sooner than Edward would like. With Aro's sentence on Bella's life still looming over their heads, the Cullens are ready to bend the Quileute treaty and make Bella one of them... for good. they know that one way or another, Bella's heart is gong to stop beating, whether it be by vampire venom, or death. Edward, of course, still resists, though his excuses for not changing her are running thin.
Meanwhile, in La Push, the wolves are getting restless. They still feel their duty to protect their reservation and the humans of Forks, Isabella Swan included. There is no denying the fact that Bella and new werewolf Jacob have grown close -- the bond a result of Edward's absence -- and he would do anything to keep her safe. But after she left him, alone and cold, in the middle of the forest, will he be willing to forgive and forget? To let her back into his life? To the members of the La Push pack, Bella's impending change is worse than a true death, and none of them are willing to see her become cold, beautiful, and DEAD, like the rest of the Cullen family.
But no one can deny that becoming a vampire, being with Edward for the rest of eternity, is what Bella wants. Edward doesn't truly believe that's the best idea, and he never will. What lengths will Bella go to to be with him for all eternity?
